To Whom It May Concern:

HP Boise site contracted with Nancy Caspersen beginning in 1996 for a Tobacco Cessation Program for a population base of 5,000 employees with HP and contract employees combined.

The employee paid the total cost of the program.  After they completed the program, HP reimbursed them 50% of their cost and after 6 months, if the employee continued to be tobacco free, HP reimbursed them the remaining 50%.

In 2001, HP discontinued reimbursing the employee and although the employee was responsible for 100% of the cost of the program, attendance in the class was not affected. Over the years with HP, Nancy has developed a good rapport with the employees who participated in her classes and word-of-mouth marketing strategy contributed to her highly attended classes.

In the majority of classes over the years, Nancy had experienced a 100% success rate of the employee being tobacco free by the end of the class.  We followed the employee’s success at remaining tobacco free over a period of years.  Our graphs indicate from 1996 through 2002, 45 employees remained tobacco free saving the company $199,680.

Nancy had all employees complete a satisfaction survey at the end of her classes and the feedback from employees was remarkably positive in all areas.

Nancy has a unique teaching style that makes the classes very interesting.  She combines facts, that satisfy the analytical personality, with the ability to empower the employee to be responsible for discontinuing tobacco use.

Needless to say, Nancy has positively affected the lives of many HP employees and it has been a pleasure knowing and working with her.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

Best Regards,

Jeannie Grant
